La Tara ayer y hoy

Los artículos presentados a continuación muestran como fue y como es ahora concebido la producción y exportación de tara. En el 2003, se podía ver como la exportación de tara daba sus primeros pasos exportando a países de Europa, principalmente. Por otro lado, en el articulo publicado en el 2007, se muestra como la exportación de tara ya se encontraba enrumbada y como esta había crecido en tan solo 4 años.

The specialist indicated that the tara is "a very profitable" products and pointed out that the market pays 120 soles by quintal (46 kilos). The harvesting of the cases of the wild shrub, that soon will be processed, has a great impact on the job generation and income, because it mobilizes a great amount of farmers.

Italy, Brazil, Argentina, the United States and Spain are the main buyers of tara, a native plant of Peru which is produced mainly in the departments of Ayacucho and Cajamarca, the Market Intelligence Office of the Exporting Sierra program informed.
They stated that with respect to 2005 exports of tara powder went up 78% last year, and the main buyers were Italy (20%), Brazil (18%) and Argentina (15%), reaching US$ 11.7 million; whereas abroad sells of tara gum grew 120%, which meant a value of US$ 8.3 million.
Tara powder is used for tanning leather, plastics and adhesives manufacturing, preparation of medicines and beauty products, as well as for metal protection, drilling and maintenance of oil wells, and for other industrial activities.
Tara gum is used for processing dairy products, confectionery, food, dietetic food and others. The company Silvateam Peru S.A.C., of Italian capitals, became the main exporter of both products, tara powder with 41% of share and tara gum with 35% of share. (Gestion)

Apesar de el crecimiento existente en la exportación de tara, todavía queda mucho mercado por "conquistar", ya que la demanda sigue insatisfecha.
